Guide to the Different Types of PKers
Written by: Archasgame5, RSR Staff Here is a guide to pking in Runescape 1 (2D). I will try to help define the many kinds of pkers there are and their functions. This is a topic to help the people with many common questions that they have while browsing the forums. Iron pure - Iron pures are characters who have a defense level of one and a high attack level. You will see a lot of iron pures around the levels of 20-50. An iron pure will max their strength level out according to their desired combat. Iron pures also have a high amount of hitpoints for their level. An iron pure can usually be spotted in full iron, a rune 2-hander, and a ruby amulet of strength. Prayerbeast - Prayerbeasts are very similar to iron pures, except that they will have a prayer level of 25+ on top of high attack and strength levels. They tend to use prayer to protect weapons, hit harder and more often, and even to protect from ranged missiles. One additional characteristic of a Prayerbeast is that they will often have monk's robes and a holy symbol. Wine Pure - This leads us to the wine pure. Wine pures are a variation of iron pures, and creating them is a very precise art. Different things are said about how to go about making a wine pure. To begin, go to Varrock and train on dummies there to raise attack levels. You can only max out at level 8 attack on dummies, so while training, this breed of pkers drink wine to lower their first attack stat and keep training. In the end, wine pures usually have lower hitpoints but higher strength levels than their iron counterparts. Defense Pure - Defense pures are on the boom recently in RS1. Most defense pures are around the levels of 18-40. This type of pker must master the art of catching in order to be successful. Common stats of a low level defense pure are an attack of 10, defense 30, and strength 35+. They can often be seen in full addy and a black battleaxe. Low level pkers find it hard to hit defense pures with their armor. Defense Mage - Mages can be fun to train and fun to pk on. Mages are often solo pkers, due to the fact that they have 2 attacks at once. They fight and at the same time shoot weaken and attack spells at their enemies. It is not uncommon for a level 10 mage to have a magic of 50+. Mages train high defense so that they cannot be hit as much, and attack enemies in melee combat so that the enemy cannot retreat from the spells. Another big thing about mages is that often when they reach low health, they will teleport out of the wilderness, being nothing but a big waste of food to those left behind. Controlled Pure - Controlled pures had a boom about a year and a half ago, and have been somewhat left behind and forgotten. Controlled pures are very self explanatory since the character has been created, they have fought on the controlled setting. Common stats for a controlled pure might be 70 - 70 -70. Ranger Pure - Rangers usually tend to pk in groups of three or four, having one fighter between them. Low level rangers are effective in groups and pk in light armor. These characters can also be fun to pk with; just don't get caught in the heat of battle! Impure Pker - Many clans have been made such as the Impure Owners, advertising no pures allowed! These pkers will often pk in rune and addy armor, and do a variety of things, including range and magic. I hope this guide to pking has helped some of you, and if any of you have any questions or additions to this post, please pm me! ~ Guide to Catching ~ In this guide, I will try to explain the art of catching. The most important part of pking in Runescape classic is catching. If you know how to catch, the number of kills you get will increase tenfold. The ability to catch is actually a glitch in the game that many players have learned to master. There are two types of catching, the left click and the right click. To catch a player with a left click, follow behind them three squares or less, clicking ahead of them as they run. As soon as their hitpoints bar above their head disappears (as you get better you will learn to time this properly) left click on their head several times rapidly. If you click several times, chances are you will have a better success rate than if you would have clicked only once. Your opponent's hits bar should disappear after about 3 seconds or after they have traveled five squares. The left click option is only available to you when the player you are trying to catch is 3 or less levels under yours, or if you are in a black zone. A black zone is a special area on the map in which every person there is a left click to attack, whether you are able to or not. The second option of catching is the two click catch, or the right click. This is considered by many players to be the harder of the two, to others the preferable method. Just like the first kind, when their hitpoints bar disappears, right click on the player and click attack. Remember, catching works better if you click on their head, not any other part of the character! Like anything else, it takes practice to learn and to master. Hopefully this guide helped you out some, and now you are able to get more kills in Runescape Classic. Until next time, ~*Archasgame5*~ Last edited by Archasgame5; November 7th, 2005 at 12:38 AM. |
